The Junior League of Jackson is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism ...I'm guessing that's "the principle of relying on voluntary action rather than compulsion," as opposed to "a theory or doctrine which regards will as the fundmental principle or dominant factor in the individual or in the universe."
Still, even on the former definition, it seems the JL is more about practicing voluntary social action than about abstractly favoring it over compulsory action. "Volunteerism" would've worked just fine.
