Exhuming the corpse to burn it
That's what the Council of Constance did with John Wycliffe, and that's what the Mississippi Supreme Court has done with Bobby DeLaughter, judicially speaking.
TBA is not sure that the court's authority was any less theological (as opposed to legal) than the council's, but I have said whatever I have to say over at NMC's place.

Well, John Wycliffe is refreshingly more esoteric than an oaken stake, although I enjoyed working over Eddie Cicotte and Arnold Rothstein.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that came to my mind in this was the brief back-and-forth you and I had when you quoted one of the judges saying they figured out who they wanted to win, first. This is exactly where that leads.
And personally, I'm moved to quote Bogart in "Treasure of the Sierra Madre," "If you're going to think that way, we're going to have to tie you up at night."
