If the Freelands want us to believe that they were concerned about Susan White getting home safely, then why didn't Joyce hang around so that Tom could drive her home and Joyce could follow to pick Tom up from her house? Or why didn't Joyce drive her home with Tom following her? And why didn't they talk to Susan White about their concerns? Instead, Joyce just abruptly leaves. Susan White's version of events that fateful night make more sense. Besides, why would Susan White falsely accuse Tom Freeland and put herself through the trial if this was not the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
