Yesterday I heard the tail-end of
an NPR piece on the Solicitor General, Donald Verrilli, who'll be arguing for the feds in the Supreme Court healthcare-law suit next week. The link takes you to a transcript of the story, if you don't have time to listen to it—a rare look at someone who rarely gets much press coverage.
I have to defer to you legal guys on the question of how the court will rule but how do you think the way the court rules will help or hurt the President in Nov. 2012?JL
ReplyDeleteGiven that the public has a middlin-to-poor view of the law (which Obama has never even tried to explain), I think the SCOTUS ruling will matter a lot: if it's upheld, the public will likely go "well, guess it wasn't so bad after all." If overturned, it will seem to confirm the spin that Obama is a dangerous power-grabber.
